So first up an apology for the sudden unannounced changes to airlinerperformance.net, but after a few years of running the site, it is time for change. I'm delighted that the number of visitors has consistently been growing but it costs me a fair bit each year to have the site and the files hosted, and as I'm no longer working I'm afraid I can't afford to be generous. Also to date there's been very little interaction with users, and I think it's a positive step to change that by way of a forum. There will be some diversification starting with the addition of Air Manager panels - check out the relevant thread. I hope that these will be of interest to X-Plane 11 cockpit builders on a budget who don't want to be limited to flying just one aircraft type. More aircraft will be available in the future, and already for anyone who does want to follow a Magenta line, panels for the IXEG 737-300 are well advanced and almost at the preview stage. If you're intrigued then please do check out the forums at siminnovations.com, that should answer any questions you might have over how these panels work and you'll see how my own panels have evolved over the last couple of years. Please don't ask me when PFPX performance files will be available again and how I'll be making them available. I will just delete any such posts. I'm moving house right now so it may take a little while to get re-organised, that's a big reason for timing on these changes, but I'm working to get the building blocks in place. Cheers The Management

Hi! Great that you have decided to create this forum! Can I ask that you change your user name away from 'The Management' to make it more friendly? Looking forward to working together. Regards, Richard

Thanks Wim, and thank you Richard for joining and for your post in the PFPX forum.
I'm going to keep my homage to 1990s TV comedy for a bit longer, if that's OK, but you're welcome to call me Jon if you prefer ;-)
I hope I'll have my desktop (and desk) moved and in its new home by end of this week and then I can crack on with pushing the airlinerperformance site onwards, sorry for delay, I'm feeling it too with growing withdrawal symptoms.
Cheers Jon

Sorry folks, further delay. Unfortunately I've had to spend time lifting wood floors and pouring floor leveling compound, when I'd rather be spending some time at a PC. Best laid plans and all that......but swinging a pickaxe and sledge hammer can be strangely satisfying.

Hi Jon, I am not sure how to mark items as 'read'. Help!

Jon, Can you give us an idea of what will be your priorities regarding aircraft types. Although I cannot expect exact timescales, and with the upcoming PMDG aircraft types, will you be concentrating on providing the performance files for these as your highest priority? Regards, Richard

Hi Richard, I shall have to check on how to mark items, I'm new to this forum moderating business!!
As for priorities/intentions I'm hoping to move ahead soon - yes sorry that's not the first time I've said as much! There are 2 problems I have - 1 that the weather at the moment is good and I'm spending pretty much all day everyday outside trying to undo nature's work of the last 4 months. I'm in the process of moving house and I couldn't get to the new place thanks to lockdowns in 2 countries - nature and plant growth of course wasn't on lockdown! I also have indoor work to do so time to sit at a PC is limited until we get things sorted, including importantly a PC/sim room/mancave. The bonus for me at least is I don't need to spend money on Weightwatchers or a gym membership. Secondly I need to sort out the best way for getting funding for the site, again slightly complicated by moving country. I'll probably go with Paypal.
My plan is that the website will move to a two-tier site. Basic files for the most popular FSX/P3D/XP aircraft will be freely available. Anyone who wants to support me with (Paypal) donations to help fund costs will get access to a much more comprehensive set of files, and will get new files first. So for example if a new flightsim model becomes available I'll make files for the relevant variants/engine types available ASAP for folks who have been kind enough to support me. A single generic data set (ie more akin to Simbrief) will be made available on the free access page after a delay.
The forum can also be partitioned so that supporters get access to password-locked areas and I'd like to expand the information available so that things like APS weights/cabin configs or other company specific data can be made available through an information exchange on the forum. Maybe even OFPs, it's not that difficult to work with revised formats, all that's needed is a text editor.
Hope that helps! Cheers Jon
